Requirements
College degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Business or insurance related majors preferred. Qualified applicants will possess a positive attitude and good communication skills, as well as solid decision making ability and computer skills. Demonstrated customer service skills and experience are a definite plus. Insurance experience is preferred but not required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
The Claims Department in each of GEICO’s business locations provides the service and protection that GEICO promises in its insurance policies. Claims associates begin serving the policyholder the moment a loss is reported. They investigate losses, verify the extent of coverage under the terms of the policy, calculate the fair amount to be paid, and make prompt payment for losses incurred by GEICO insured, or for claims for which GEICO insured are liable. Prompt, fair, courteous service is the goal of the Claims Department.
• Receive incoming calls from policy holders reporting auto accident information.
• Set up loss reports.
• Work with attorneys, claimants and adjusters to negotiate settlements
• Explain coverage to policy holders
• Schedule appointments for appraisers
• Manage 1st party injury
• Investigate disputed claims

it's pretty simple :)
responsibilities include:
- answering phones/transfering calls to respective departments
- random miscellaneous duties (re-stocking car keys that have been taken out for show/test drive/etc.; putting together "deal packets"; using microsoft word/excel to create schedules and other documents)
as you can see, it's far from strenuous... i sit in front of a 24 inch iMac at a desk in the showroom, facing huge walls of windows and pretty cars :) it's $7.50 an hour to transfer calls, play online and smile pretty to customers and salesmen...
we currently have two receptionists:
i work full time and ashlee takes daytime and night classes throughout the week working part-time..
we pretty much need someone to fill in the gaps, someone to work nights (3 or 4pm - 9pm) and weekends... i can work sundays and saturdays can be split among the three of us, so it's no huge deal if you're not all about working all night and all weekend...
scheduling is super flexible - as long as someone is there, no one cares who it is, so we work out our own schedules together...
pay, like i said earlier, is $7.50 an hour and i believe a raise review is offered after 60 days...
although the day stays pretty relaxed, the phones slow way down after 5-6pm and there's not much at all to be done, so there's always PLENTY of time to get any schoolwork or reading done..
